Sled dog name: Blitzen
Age at adoption: approx. 5 years old, June 2013
Adopted from: Victoria SPCA (from Penny)

Dislikes: having her photo taken, vegetables
Sleeping locations: at night on our bed or her bed; during the day, on the living room couch with lots of blankets and pillows
Off-leash time: yes, in well-known areas
Escaped or lost?: yes, probably 4-5 times for about 30 mins each in the first year we had her
Siblings: Reindeer litter - Vixen, Comet
Medical conditions: back issues, spindle cell sarcoma removed from right front leg. When we adopter her she was malnourished, had facial wounds, anxiety and fearful of men
Spayed/Neutered at adoption: she was spayed right before we adopted her
Known history: lead dog at Whistler
Anything else you'd like to add: She’s the best thing that has happened to us.

Session notes:
For a dog who really doesn't like having her photo taken, she posed remarkably well! But why isn't she looking at my camera? Because the treat was being held to the left of it! I didn't get a lot of photos of River - as soon as the camera was lifted up to my face she would deliberately look away or turn away - even with my camera phone - she new what was going on!
River is one of my sleddie friends who is just so dang happy that she makes everyone smile.

River is a survivor of the 2010 Whistler sled dog cull.
