Age: 10 years, 1 month (at time of photo), male Weight: 26 kg Breed/Mix: husky x Sled dog name: Dandelion Age at adoption: 7.5 years old Adopted from: Victoria SPCA, December 2014 Coat - single/double: partial double Likes: head scratches, car rides Dislikes: almost everything new, loud noises Sleeping locations: inside and outside Off-leash time: yes Escaped or lost?: yes, twice for 1/2 hour each time Siblings: don’t know Medical conditions: bad teeth Spayed/Neutered at adoption: yes Known history: came from Whistler Anything else you'd like to share: Lion is very smart and has taught himself how to be off leash Session notes: I first met Lion in Sept 2013 when I visited the kennels in Whistler. He was known as Dandelion back then and we called him Dandy. I saw him again in November of that year when my friend who was volunteering at the Victoria SPCA brought him home for an overnighter to see how he did in a home - of course I photographed it all - Sledder Day Out. (this was back when we called sleddies, sledders) Lion is a super cool guy and surprised both his human and I during the session when he took treats from me...not only inside, but inside an unfamiliar place... and from a stranger. One cannot underestimate these sleddies. Lion currently lives with his 'brother' Nordique. Lion is a survivor of the 2010 Whistler sled dog cull. Lion passed away May 15, 2020. |
