Age at adoption: 4 years Adopted from: Victoria Humane Society, August 2015 Coat - single/double: single Likes: being free Dislikes: anything restrictive - leashes, collars, being touched by people, being held by people Sleeping locations: at night, inside wherever she wants; during the day, she uses the dog door to go in/out Off-leash time: every day in the forest Escaped or lost?: ran away off-leash and was gone for 5 days Siblings: unknown Medical conditions: mental/emotional issues, obsessive behaviours (repetitive pacing activities), fearful behaviours (terrified of people) Spayed/Neutered at adoption: yes Known history: Nothing except she came from a kennel in Pemberton Session notes: Summer was really hard to photograph. She wasn't scared or nervous like the some of the others - she just didn't want to stand where I needed her to (hence her pose) - it was like she was in her own world and she was really just content to hang out on the sofa which is why in the photo of her face you can see the pillows from the sofa in the background. The kennel she came from I've been told was awful. A number of the dogs from this place have/had incredibly intense fears and had/have a very difficult time trusting humans. From the information I've been told, I can put two and two together, but I wasn't there firsthand to see. I do trust the sources and know that the commercial sledding community is small and there's a lot that goes on, that operations don't share about each other... at least not publicly. I first met Summer a few years back after she came into care with the Victoria Humane Society - she was in a foster home and got loose and was wandering around the Gordon Head area of Victoria. I can't remember how long she was gone for, but there a lot of us out looking for her. She was in our sights, but she was eventually caught by some nice folks who were painting a nearby house like it was no big deal. Summer passed away August 2017. |
